Half of users registered on Threads don’t use the app

According to Reuters, around half of all users registered on Meta’s new social network have ended up not using it. It may be because they’ve returned to Twitter, which is now known as X, as it’s a more familiar service.

Mark Zuckerberg, meanwhile, has assured that everything is “fine”, stating, “If you have more than 100 million people sign up, ideally it would be awesome if all of them or even half of them stuck around.” This justification seems like somewhat of a stretch.

Twitter changes its name to X

Twitter owner Elon Musk has announced that Twitter is being rebranded. Now the app is known as X, and the blue bird logo has been swapped for the letter X.

It’s thought that this rebranding will be the first step in a mass overhaul of the app. Musk promises to introduce new features for communication and managing finances. The social network will also use artificial intelligence.

TikTok introduces text posts

TikTok is introducing the ability to write text posts. The social network has stated that this will make content easier to create and have more variety.

These posts will not be restricted purely to text, users will be able to add stickers, sounds, polls, and hashtags. This function will allow TikTok to appear in search results, and also compete with X and Threads.
