Google’s October 2023 Update: What You Need to Know

Google has a new update for October 2023. It’s the third one this year. The other two were in March and August. These updates change how Google shows websites in search results. Sometimes a website can show up higher or lower because of them.

When did the updates happen?

• The March update started on March 15 and ended on March 28.
• The August update started on August 22 and ended on September 7.
• The October update started in October and will take about two weeks.

What if my website is affected?

Don’t worry too much if your website’s position changes. Google says this doesn’t mean your website is bad. If you want to make your website better, Google has some questions to help you think about it. Sometimes a website can get better between updates. But the big changes happen when Google has a new update.

Why should I care?

Knowing about these updates is good. If your website goes up or down in search results, you can check if Google had an update. This helps you know if the change was because of something you did or something Google did.
